Megaman hat is done... kinda. I haven't been able to pull off the ear thing, as while it works well on paper... it just don't look right on a hat. Gonna try one more idea... but even if it doesn't work it definitely screams Megaman anyway.
The main problem is that the rest of the hat is blue and light blue, which makes the dark grey look out of place. I'm thinking that maybe a larger inner ear section of light grey can offset this... maybe.
Be back later!

Well, by the artbook, the ear things are white with a light gray inner and red circle in the center. If you want I could scan some of the images for you if you think that'd be helpful to you?

Here's a video illustrating what I'm talking aboot.
I'm basing this MMX hat on the anime cutscenes from the game... so I'd like to stick with the more recognizable color scheme.

I Think I know how to correct the issue. Craftfoam. It's thinner so you can make the ear things but not make them so poofy. (I do cosplay costuming for a living, and most of my stuff is using all fabrics *including Megaman/Rockman costumes*). I think the hat is very good though! I think you should add the ear things but it still looks great without it. (Then again I'm a huge rockman fan too. ^^;; )

I was thinking of doing that, but my last trip to Michael's crafts was... problematic. This old fart insisted that since I was wearing a black shirt, I must work there, and my insistence I didn't was an "attitude problem". He went so far as to drag the manager over. When she pointed out that I was indeed not an employee I blurted out, "So fuck you and the horse you rode in on buddy" and left without my supplies.
Before that moment I was searching for craft foam... lol. I was thinking of using the thicker one for my tentacle tutorial. Didn't occur to me to pick it up for Megaman ears.

Joann's carries it too, for cheaper I think. That's where I buy mine at. ^^ Craft foam is really great stuff I use it for a lot of things, poster board too.

I actually found a bunch I had left over from last Halloween... I just haven't had the opportunity to sit down and come up with something.
I'm probably going to make the base structure out of craft foam, then cover it with fleece. The trick is to make it dimensional enough to be recognizable as a Megaman X ear, but not so much it reads as Princess Leia buns.
