All Over the world, the news of Copy X's return and his power Grab was making headlines all over the world...
And in one news room...
"What do you MEAN we can't cover this story? This is huge beyond belief! The possibility O'Neil had government secrets, Alien allies being forced to leave, humans turning into Bio-roids. Hunters, both Current AND retired are turning up missing AND the New York Hunter HQ is on lock down... AND I CAN'T COVER THE STORY?!?"
Meet Emily Wong, One of the top reporters of the world, and she was arguing with her editor over who would cover what was pretty much breaking news.
"Seriously, you need someone who can ask Copy-X the hard questions and not someone who has a huge Bias like that Bitch, Al-Jilani!"
"Wong, Look we need to do this gently,we don't know what Copy-X has planned and..."
"Ugh, whatever." Wong said as she left.
(Will finish later, at school)

"No go?" came a comment from one of the desks near the editor's office. A young man of black hair with shading to gray looks over at his coworker. A recent transfer, Dallas had been brought in from Illinois to cover a surge in metahuman activity that was effecting the greater New York area. When it wasn't mavericks going rogue, it was the 'supervillians' that had just started to plague the city lately. "I've been trying to say something's been going on for a while, but you know what they say... if there's not a body they just consider them retired." He sighed for a moment, before considering his own stories. "You're missing the bigger picture though. It's not just the hunters effected... I've heard things."

"I know, which is all the more reason the people need reporters like you and me to dig deeper into this, not trained monkeys like Al-Jilani." Wong sighed before sitting down in front of Dallas. "take it your sources found more info?" she asked, mentally making a note to buy the new guy some dinner as a way to say she was sorry for snapping at him.It wasn't that she was mad at him, but rather the Editor for 'playing it safe' rather than trying to see if this would be a repeat of what had happened back in 22XX....
Though, if one thing Emily knew, it was that THIS time, not all humans wouldn't be taking Copy X's return as the sign of a new era of peace.

"More like what they didn't find." Dallas responded, pulling a set of forms from his desk and handing them over. "No one's seen the kid glow light in over a week... no signs of anyone remotely existing as a being of energy. No appearances by the previous generals of X that have been hopping around as vigilantes... nothing. I've even heard some online chatter the uh... what was it the media called them... Nightmare something... those freaky reploid ressurectees, that they've disappeared off the face of the earth." He pauses for a moment to let it all sink in before continuing. "All these people... these are all people walking the planet managing to throw off a lot of energy... -generate- a lot of energy. I've been trying to find out where and like I said... no body... no trail. A lot of people are happy to be rid of these 'untrustworthy rogues'. But I bet you ten to one none of those announcements of Copy X explained where he was going to get the power for his little project."

"....Not only that but I have a VERY bad feeling about this." Emily said as she read the forms. "This is a theory but...you don't think that Copy-X could be...." She said as she let the thought sink in before there was a sudden interruption.
"Wong!Dallas! we need you downtown right now as Emerald Spears has just shown up and are Backing Copy-X!"

"Could be what?..." He had a sneaking suspicion exactly what she was going to say. But it was crazy enough he needed to hear someone else say it. He blinked for a moment before their editor called out to him. "Wait, did he say what I think he did?..." He manages to mutter before standing and grabbing his coat. "I have a bad feeling... One of my contacts lives that way. Come on Miss Wong, chance of a lifetime to ask a racist why he's changed sides." He manages to reply with a wry grin as he starts for the door.

=An hour or so later= Dallas pulled up a parking space near the police barricades, climbing out even as he ran over and opened the door for Emily. Things were looking heated outside the set of apartment buildings that were considered the 'little DS9' of the futuristic New York City. Many offworlders and other oddities had found residence in the block of buildings. This Dallas knew from personal experience, from an off the record interview or two. That didn't help the unsettling nature of just how many Emerald Spears officers and Bio-roids were on the scene keeping a perimeter on one single building on the block. Dallas frowned for a moment as he walked over to an officer and flashed his news badge. "What's going on here?" He asked, even as he glanced up in the direction of the building. Something stunk about this whole situation, at least one normal metahuman he knew about lived in the building. ******** Suzie tried not to look out the windows, keeping herself out of sight even as she heard the officers knocking on the doorways just a few apartments down from theirs. They were going to be here any minute now... looking for something. She could sense it off of them with the artifacts embdded in her body that allowed her some degree of power. Troy was still not back and it had been days since he had disappeared... she fell to her knees against the wall, trying not to break down as her compatriot gathered provisions. She had found a stable life... and all of this was going to happen? Why now? why to her? She broke down crying as she couldn't help but be engulfed by her emotions.
